Long story...

Sorry for bailing on y'all yesterday...I'm actually out of town, *FINALLY* visiting home! YAY!

So if I'm not making the rounds, I'm so sorry...know that I miss you terribly and I'll be back to gushing over your blogs in no time (c:

That means fun time with mom, dad, & sister, eating at all my favorite joints, visits to all the local hotspots (Dion's Pizza, I LOVE YOU),
...and of course, a little retail therapy!

I'm also going to make a confession.

I am one of the 5 people in the universe that hasn't yet jumped on board the Maxi dress train. That's correct, you heard right. I DON'T OWN A-ONE OF THEM!

I've always thought that they look kinda funny on me...I'm short and usually they are too long on me and let's face it, I barely even make it to a tailor to hem pants, I'm probably not going to do it for a summer dress...

And then Pinterest messed it all up. They have all these fantastic images of cool ways to style a maxi dress/skirt and I'm hooked.

*BLAST* Another perfectly good plan foiled by Pinterest!!!

And this season's goodies have me thinking that I need to give them a try, 'cause I'm likin' what I'm seein' (c:

(Try to excuse the weirdness, home brings out that quality in me (c:)

Some of my faves:

Number two is my current fave...especially since it's got awesome detailing. And keep in mind that I would definitely be styling these little numbers differently than these pics...the striped ones (and the dot) are in desperate need of a wide belt, wouldn't you say???
Anyone have any secret maxi sources that they want to share?  I might just have a new obsession...

And in completely unrelated news, while I was at Gap, I spied this little number that I'm definitely going back to get at some point. That print is just too awesome to resist! They also have it in a gorgeous coral colorway...

Well crapola. I was trying to be good and not buy anything for the next couple of weeks. Of course now I NEED that second maxi and dress from the Gap asap. What to do, what to do....

I'm desperately trying to find a cute Easter dress, but have had 0.0% luck lately. Why is it that when you actually need something, you can't find it? When you want something but really can't justify it, you find like 520 options (and buy most of them)?

I bought TWO maxi dresses this weekend. One from the Off 5th Outlet and one from the J Crew Outlet. The one from off 5th may be the cutest thing ever (coral, pleats, you know the drill). Have fun at home!

I have to say I am all over the maxi dress. You just can't beat how easy and effortless they look. But that first one with the belt is really calling to me. May have to try belting one. Enjoy our trip!

I think I like the maxi skirts better?? What do you think? My hippie friends could totally pull off the knotted maxi look...and maybe me? Let us know which one you actually put in your closet!!

I love a great maxi...now and before I was preggers. They make a great statement! Glad you're jumping on the train! ;)

I was scared of maxi dresses for awhile too since I'm super short but I've found that they generally look just fine with wedges!

Oh Aubrey I am really short (5 feet) and I just bought the CUTEST maxi skirt at J. Crew...AND...it doesn't need to be hemmed. That's right. Awesome. Also love the GAP dress!

I think you would look adorable in a maxi! I am super short too but if you find one that cinches at the waist, I think it doesn't overwhelm a small frame. Your choices are all gorgeous!

One of each please! I would like to spend my whole summer in these. Have fun at home C:

Happy vaca time, love!!! Oh man... you need to get that cute BOOT of yours on the maxi train... stat! I'm a shorty too and just get the length hemmed... otherwise I wear some wedgies which make me feel and look extra tall... esp under that draping skirt! :) Love your pics, doll! xo
