Guest Post: Parlour!!!

I'm so excited to introduce you to the fabulousness that is Nicole and her blog, Parlour! If you haven't already discovered her, then you are in for such a treat because this home is *stunning*...I just stumbled on her blog and as soon as I saw the pictures of her place, I was hooked.

 Hook, line, and sinker.

I'm sure you will see what I mean...

Hi there, I'm Nichole from Parlour.  I was so flattered when Aubrey wrote and asked me if I would like to be involved in her "How to Make Your Home Your Own" series.  First off, it's something I think is crazy important, and I believe is overlooked more often than not.  Your personality shines through in every other facet of your life...so, why should your home be any different?

Here are a few things I believe,  can help you to make your home special, unique, and most of all, your own.

1.  Find unique pieces that reflect your own aesthetic.  Below is a massive cameo I found at a flea market (my favorite place to shop for the home.)  It was a sad shade of baby blue, but, I saw the potential.  I snatched that baby up, brought it home, painted it a graphic black and here it is...

2.  Another option, is to make a picture wall.  Although this is not a new idea, you can still personalize it and make it completely yours.  Find art and photos that mean something to you and put them up on the wall like they are puzzle pieces.  Even if the frames and styles don't match, the mis-matching will give it personality, and that is always a plus!

3.  Customize your furniture.  It's not difficult, it just takes a little creativity, and a little bit of time.  But, when you walk into your home and see these unique pieces that no one else has, it will make you feel pretty special.

4.  Don't be afraid to stand out and spice it up.  Have FUN with your home.  Good design doesn't have to be serious and straitlaced.  It can  be as varied and colorful as you are.

5.  Customize your lighting.  Even if you live in a rented space, you can still change out the lighting to make more interesting.  That is one of the easiest things to do, and makes a huuuuge impact.

So, hoped you learned a little today.  Or, at least got inspired.  I hope you come and visit me over at Parlour, and thank you so much Miss Aubrey for inviting me to meet your readers to begin with.  Happy decorating all!

Told ya. Hooked.

Seriously, anyone that is freakin' awesome enough to paint the feet of her dining chairs pink is a genius in my book.

Thanks so much Nicole for sharing your fantastic abode with us!

Up tomorrow:
