I'm a Blockhead and a Movie review of Brave!

I'm definitely not a person that you would characterize as "color shy"...I'm positive that I'm just the opposite...a color extrovert???

Regardless, I've been in absolute lust convulsions over this Tibi dress since I spied it on the fabulous Bee:

And bonus, these were my wedding colors...so I'm pretty sure I've liked this combo for *awhile* now (c:

Do you think Santa starts taking requests in June???

And by the way, I got to go take the little kiddos to see Disney/Pixar's new movie, Brave:

Have you heard anything about this movie yet? 'Cause when I went to go see it, I thought it was going to be like the G-rated-and-animated-with-girl-lead version of Braveheart.

Wrong-o.

It's a story about a Scottish princess who is pretty much a normal teenager: she doesn't get along with her mum and wants to make all her own decisions (even if they're silly ones). Then she makes a deal with a witch and turns said mum into a bear (yup) who she has to then save to save the whole kingdom. And her mum.

I just like calling her "mum". (c:

Seeing as it's a Disney movie, I thought it would be fine to take the short people to (they're 5 and 3).

Wrong-o, AGAIN.

The villain in this movie happens to be an uber scary and creepy grizzly bear (including a missing *dead eye*, ew)...my 5 year-old son had to keep taking his 3D glasses off every time it came on because it was too scary. )c:

HOWEVER...The princess' triplet baby brothers are DARN FUNNY and leaving the movie, my little ones were already *begging* me to buy it when it comes out on DVD and to take them to see it another time in the theater. (c:

Overall, it was pretty entertaining (though not my favorite Disney movie by a long shot), Billy Connolly is freakin' hilarious as King Fergus and I will always and forever be smitten with *anything* Emma Thompson touches (she's the Queen in this one), she's always BRILLIANT.

TAKE AWAY POINTS
(cause I know you're totally skimming all this!)

It's a good movie, entertaining for the kiddos (as long as they aren't too young!), but you definitely can skip the 3D unless you're just really into it because I don't think it really adds much in this case!

Happy color-blockin' weekend, people...

I'm so glad you posted this. We were planning on taking Izzy to see it tomorrow, but I think we'll pass knowing it might be a little scary - she freaks easily. Have you seen the Terminex commercial where the creepy monster comes out of the sink drain and them turns into a bunch of roaches? Yep, she's scarred.

I think I might have to go out and buy everything on your pink and orange moodboard (just realised that I don’t actually own anything orange… this HAS to change)! Have a lovely weekend!

I love that dress and color combo. I actually just bought a maxi dress from Target in those colors, but it didn't have the pretty backless option like this one. Also, will probably be seeing Brave once the baby comes, so I'm holding out for now.

Thanks for the review about Brave. J wants to see it which I thought was quite funny but now I'll actually consider it. I won't bring any kids though. Just two adults catching a Disney movie. NBD ;) xoxo
