Design Dilemma

I think this is a question that is as old as Design itself...

HOW DO YOU HIDE THAT BLASTED TV?!?!

Seriously, the hubbs decided right around the Super Bowl (surprising, right?) that we needed a new and what I consider to be a GINORMOUS television.

It takes up our entire console and I just would really like a clever idea as to how to make it not the complete focal point of our living room...

Pinterest to the rescue:

If I'm being honest with myself, the only real option is creating some sort of gallery wall that incorporates the TV...

I'm really cursing the fact that I like my shows so much...dang you, Once Upon A Time and Walking Dead! (c;

Gotta love Pinterest! Go for the wall art gallery! The tv in our fan room is on full display but the tv in our bedroom (yes I DO need it, and it is MY tv to watch my reality smut) gets hidden in the armoire or however you spell that!

I love the sliding mirror covering the TV, but it might be a little hard to DIY that one :) I think the gallery wall idea is a great!

The coolest one I've ever seen was at this amazing hotel in Atlanta. They have the typical frame around the TV but when you turn the TV off, a print is lowered down in front of the TV so that it just becomes a picture. AMAZING!!!!

Those are all great ideas, but I'm with you, the gallery wall is probably my top choice!

I put a frame around one I used in one of my projects. It works. Totally looks like art. :)

I saw you won a prize on Amber's blog. Congrats, dear!

Love, love the sliding barn doors. We've finally decided to mount a project from the ceiling and use that for the tv in the new basement.

These are such brilliant ideas!! My husband and I are big TV watchers so our TV's are ginormous and when we aren't watching tv, they are eyesores. I wish we could do something like what's done in these pictures!!

PS...love Walking Dead!!!

Mine is right over the mantle and the highlight of the living room. I don't dare mess with the Husband's tv though ;)

I kind of like that last one as a gallery wall (image). The first one is pretty creative too!

Gallery wall is great! I have literally thought of hanging a rod and some amazing designer drapes to hide it . . but then I realize that is just way too much effort. So here I sit and stare at my tv!

That one in the fireplace is crazy! I do think that a gallery wall would work really well!

I am with you on hiding the tv but I lost that battle with my hubby! So now we have a monster tv on the wall but I must say it does not bother me anymore. It is so thin and really blends in with the space. I have a large console under the tv with 2 large lamos flanking the ends and I can now say I love it!

Depending on your set up you could also use some cool drapes from ceiling to floor to hide a wall mounted flat screen, then when you open it up it will look like a mini movie theatre - of course then the issue is how to organize all the TV stuff around it (dvr, dvd player, stand/console) ... it could be cool and relatively inexpensive to try.

I love Once Upon A Time too :-) I hope next week is a new episode, I'm dying to see how what happened at the end of the last episode happened!

I'd like to disguise our big-a$$ TV too, but it's pretty hard to do the way we have it set up on the wall. I like the idea of incorporating the TV into a gallery wall to sort of disguise it. Although my first choice would be hiding the TV behind barn doors - love that look. And the TV in the fireplace is pretty clever!
