Confession Time.
I'm going to confess something right now...when I invited Jessamie from Bird and Branch Redesign
to guest post, I had only seen a handful of her projects and one room of her house.
Yep.
But I was so impressed with it, that I was positive that anything that she had put together was going to be fantastic. And I was right. (c:
Thank goodness right?
Seriously, she is so amazingly talented, she has an entire portfolio full of furniture pieces that she has revamped. It. is. awesome.
And her house is fantastic, I think I actually squealed a little when I saw her adorable nursery.
But hey, you tell me what *you* think:
Yep.

Hey yall! I'm so excited to be crashing Aubrey's pad blog today. Isn't she the bomb? Not to mention kind of a whipper-snapper, that's a good thing!
Today I'm showing you two rooms that we have put a lot of sentimental value into. I've said it before {on my blog} and I'll say it again, there should never be anything in your home that you don't love or doesn't make your life easier.
This is our living room. Our walls are covered in grasscloth, but the previous owner had painted them olive...yes, olive. Grasscloth + olive = not good. We painted them a custom color from Sherwin-Williams and we love it.
The two drawings on the wall were from our first trip as newlyweds {besides the honeymoon, obviously}. We bought the drawings from a local artist in Bermuda and they just always make me smile. Oh and this is the Hub's chair, he loves this corner.
My husband was given some really great old books from his grandfather. I love placing them all around the house and I think my husband really likes subtly being reminded of his Grandfather. And I'm sorry, but how awesome are those white artichokes? I bought them at market for my Shop, but I couldn't part...maybe one day. The wooden picture frame was made out of wood from an old home in Charleston, where my husband grew up. I made the mirror, but you can read about that here.
The second room is my baby girl's room. When we found out we were expecting I knew immediately that I wanted a turquoise and mustard yellow room . From there everything just came together.
It was already a guest bedroom so we just rearranged and now it's both. We made about 85% of the things for the nursery. My Mom, thankfully, knows her way around a sewing machine and made the bumper, crib skirt, and clothes hamper.
I found this ridiculously awesome mobile on Etsy and couldn't pass it up. And we painted the giraffe
.
I found the little girl silhouette, made a custom burlap mat and framed it along with a baby picture of my husband and I each.
My great grandmother knitted the quilt on the back of the chair. The lady obviously had patience...how did that not get passed down?! And the little chair was made by my sweet Grandpa.
The iron bed was my other great grandmother's. A tree fell on the house during a storm and hit the bed... so yes, I know my headboard is crooked, but thanks!
The painted mirror was made by my great grandmother, yes the one with the crooked bed, because she was kind of awesome like that. Then the three little beveled mirrors I had and just cut out baby girl's monogram, with a little flower to boot!
Wow...you made it to the end! You might deserve some kind of prize. Hope you enjoyed two of my favorite rooms. Big thanks to Mrs. Aubrey for having me!
I think that might be the first time in my whole life that I have been actually called a whipper-snapper...I kinda *like* it!
Love that girl's sense of humor, that is why we get along so well (c: And I am adoring all the sweet and sentimental touches in her home! I think my husband would be super stoked if I found him a vintage copy of a Remington Handguns book. I can't even express the level of awesomeness that achieves.
Thanks Jessamie for all the great ideas! I need to go raid my relative's homes for heirlooms...(c:
Up tomorrow:

I LOVE all of the personal touches and family heirlooms. It makes a home so much more special than just a bunch of things. I agree, you are totally a whippersnapper!

ReplyDeleteI love the nursery and I adore the fact that it's also a guest bedroom. With only two bedrooms, this is also what we'll likely do. Super cool! Love the colors and touches that she added.
ReplyDeleteThe mobile is absolutely gorgeous! love it!
ReplyDeleteeverything looks seriously amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful home and I love all the personal touches!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful nursery, the colours used are so warm and inviting! xx
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful home Jessamie! I just love all the personal details and beautiful colours - I especially love the burlap girl silhouette! I have one question though: what exactly is a whipper-snapper??
ReplyDeleteLove all the creative ideas in the nursery, and that so many items on the two rooms that Jessamie shared hold lots of meaning for her. And I totally agree, it's so important to fill your home with things that you love - that's what makes a house a home :-)
ReplyDeleteI love Jessamie & her blog! So nice to see a couple of rooms that I hadn't seen before. I looove all the personal and creative touches. That really gives a house soul. The color combination in the nursery is so fresh, not necessarily what you'd expect in a little girls' room and I like that!
ReplyDeleteHello Aubrey, how have you been?
ReplyDeleteYour blog has become quite awesome. I love these house tours. They all so inspiring and beautiful.
