I think this is a question that is as old as Design itself...
HOW DO YOU HIDE THAT BLASTED TV?!?!
Seriously, the hubbs decided right around the Super Bowl (surprising, right?) that we needed a new and what I consider to be a GINORMOUS television.
It takes up our entire console and I just would really like a clever idea as to how to make it not the complete focal point of our living room...
Pinterest to the rescue:
If I'm being honest with myself, the only real option is creating some sort of gallery wall that incorporates the TV...
I'm really cursing the fact that I like my shows so much...dang you, Once Upon A Time and Walking Dead! (c;
Gotta love Pinterest! Go for the wall art gallery! The tv in our fan room is on full display but the tv in our bedroom (yes I DO need it, and it is MY tv to watch my reality smut) gets hidden in the armoire or however you spell that!
ReplyDeleteI love the sliding mirror covering the TV, but it might be a little hard to DIY that one :) I think the gallery wall idea is a great!
ReplyDeleteoooh those barn doors are awesome! i am a fan of the easy gallery wall to just make it blend in.... doable and inexpensive!
ReplyDeletelove the gallery wall idea too! My hubby loves, loves, The Walking Dead. Somehow, I am scared to watch it( i do anyway), but it creeps me out:-). xx
ReplyDeleteI love the gallery wall idea!! Totally fits right in!
ReplyDeleteThe coolest one I've ever seen was at this amazing hotel in Atlanta. They have the typical frame around the TV but when you turn the TV off, a print is lowered down in front of the TV so that it just becomes a picture. AMAZING!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are all great ideas, but I'm with you, the gallery wall is probably my top choice!
ReplyDeleteI put a frame around one I used in one of my projects. It works. Totally looks like art. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw you won a prize on Amber's blog. Congrats, dear!
Such great ideas! They gallery wall is my favorite as well, it seems the most practical.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the sliding barn doors. We've finally decided to mount a project from the ceiling and use that for the tv in the new basement.
ReplyDeleteThese are such brilliant ideas!! My husband and I are big TV watchers so our TV's are ginormous and when we aren't watching tv, they are eyesores. I wish we could do something like what's done in these pictures!!
ReplyDeletePS...love Walking Dead!!!
Mine is right over the mantle and the highlight of the living room. I don't dare mess with the Husband's tv though ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the yellow chevron bedding from Urban Outfitters!
ReplyDeletehahah I know right? I love the one hidden in the gallery wall :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't pinterest the best...adore the first image!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like that last one as a gallery wall (image). The first one is pretty creative too!
ReplyDeleteGallery wall is great! I have literally thought of hanging a rod and some amazing designer drapes to hide it . . but then I realize that is just way too much effort. So here I sit and stare at my tv!
ReplyDeleteThat one in the fireplace is crazy! I do think that a gallery wall would work really well!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on hiding the tv but I lost that battle with my hubby! So now we have a monster tv on the wall but I must say it does not bother me anymore. It is so thin and really blends in with the space. I have a large console under the tv with 2 large lamos flanking the ends and I can now say I love it!
ReplyDeleteDepending on your set up you could also use some cool drapes from ceiling to floor to hide a wall mounted flat screen, then when you open it up it will look like a mini movie theatre - of course then the issue is how to organize all the TV stuff around it (dvr, dvd player, stand/console) ... it could be cool and relatively inexpensive to try.
ReplyDeleteI love Once Upon A Time too :-) I hope next week is a new episode, I'm dying to see how what happened at the end of the last episode happened!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to disguise our big-a$$ TV too, but it's pretty hard to do the way we have it set up on the wall. I like the idea of incorporating the TV into a gallery wall to sort of disguise it. Although my first choice would be hiding the TV behind barn doors - love that look. And the TV in the fireplace is pretty clever!
