I have so much fun perusing the blogosphere for fantastic new talented peeps...and Shannon from 8foot6 is one of my new faves! I was immediately impressed with the cool/laid back, almost bohemian, vibe of her home and I love that her blog records all the progress of their fab home!
Plus, this girl has some great advice on decorating a home!
Go Shannon, it's yo' birthday...(okay not really but I must be in a hip-hop kind of mood today...)
Show off your favorite things! My milk glass 'collection' used to gather dust in the basement storage room. (I use the term 'collection' loosely, it's just a great big gathering of pretty white vases, I am not exactly a 'collector') Then one day I decided to bring them upstairs and now my vases hang out on the top shelf in my office!
Spend some time on Craigslist! Invest a few hours a day for a few months and I know you will come away with some gorgeous things that make the home your own. For Craigslist to really pay off, you have to have patience - but not necessarily discipline. Looking for a coffee table, but find an amazing set of chairs? Go for it! (Always bargain with the seller, they are expecting you to!). The pony hide ottoman in the living room, the chairs flanking the sideboard, tall boy in the office, and the arm chair in the bedroom are all from Craigslist.
The little things that make you happy! My latest purchase for the home was the Harper Multi Runner from Crate and Barrel. It is a large, heavy duty rag rug that we placed in front of the kitchen sink. It is lovely. Standing on it makes me happy. The fact that stains disappear into the pattern/texture? Priceless!
Have fun decorating!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Shannon girl! I can't even tell you what a big smile it puts on my face to see her color coordinated books or that pony hide ottoman...and that amazing milk glass collection?!? Rocks.
Just like the rest of her house...you can check it out at her blog-o-rooney!
That wraps up another edition of How to Make Your Home Your Own!!!
