Guest Post: Crazy Wonderful!!!

Photobucket

I'm totally thrilled to be introducing Shelly from Crazy Wonderful today...she was one of those instant bloggy buddies and I was completely enamored with her projects and fantastic home. It just comes across so laid back and family friendly and yet so beautiful and  well-thought out! She is definitely one of my new blog crushes and I'm pretty sure she will be one of yours as well!

Can I just say how excited I am to be guest posting on Aubrey's fan-stinking-tastic blog today!  Eeee!!!
I love her sense of style and her posts are so fun to read.
You, Aubrey... crack me up!!!
And, I may have stolen your description "amaze-balls" because I love it so much.  Phew... I feel better getting that off my chest :D
So, come on in!

When we first moved into our house I really wasn't a fan, but I knew it could be great. We had lots of oak... we're talking even oak colored walls... it felt like you were being swallowed by it.
Over the past 2 years we've done a lot of painting and have made it ours by adding things that are special to us, and a number of items I've made myself.  Proof that you don't have to spend a lot of money to make a house a home!

Our living room is now one of my favorite rooms in our house.  It's THE place where we live.

Everything goes down in this room - playing, laundry, coffee drinking, kiddo snacking, TV watching, etc.

And, no it isn't always clean.  Here's what it looked like before I picked up (and this was on a good day).

Since we spend so much time in here it MUST make us feel good.
Being surrounded by pictures of family and vacations we've taken are what makes it feel special to me.  It's nice to have all of those fond memories staring back at you every day.  I say get them off the computer and on your walls!

I can say that now that I FINALLY got over my fear of messing up a gallery wall, but I really do wish I would have done it sooner because I get such a kick out of watching Izzy point out different pictures every day.  It makes me happy.

Even this piece of driftwood on our coffee table has a special place in my heart.
My grandfather used to collect driftwood from their lake cabin that resembled animals.  Any guesses?

It's a deer :)

Another room I really like is the kitchen.

Maybe it's because that's where my coffee is waiting for me in the morning.

Well... good morning to you too ;D
I really think it's because whenever I walk in I still have that feeling of accomplishment from painting out this entire bad boy, saving it from the Oak Monster.

We also added a couple of pieces that have meaning to us.
The buffet was my husband's parents.  It had seen better days so I painted it and updated the hardware.
The chalkboard tiles above were a simple and cheap DIY version of Pottery Barn's.  I'm usually good about changing out the tiles with different pictures or sayings, but the poem my mom and I wrote for Izzy's 2nd birthday party is still up there :)

The round kitchen table was one that my parents bought years ago at an antique store.  She's a little beat up, but I think that's why I like her so much.
When I was around three I climbed up on it, and my dad told me to get down (suprise, suprise).  So I threw my legs out from under me and landed my rear hard on the edge... splitting the top of the table in two.  Whoops!

So, those are just a few of the things that make our house a home.
Still so much we want to do to it, but isn't that always how it is?
Thank you so much Aubrey for having me over today!
You are all welcome to stop by anytime, just don't expect it to be this clean again ;D

Can you really help but love her?!? Especially when she gives me credit for coming up with amazeballs. I wish I was clever enough to come up with all my crazy sayings! (c: Ha!

I absolutely adore her comfy and darling living room...don't you just feel like you could spend hours there having a great conversation and relaxing? I do. And I super love that she included a picture of it all "kid-a-fied". Priceless. (c;

And up tomorrow:

Stacey from Conspicuous Style!!!

Have you entered the $100 KOKOON giveaway yet??? No?!? Hop to it! It ends Sunday!
