Guest Post: Keller Creative!!!

You all are in for a real treat today, not only are you getting advice from the fabulously creative Kim, but she has done just about the cutest post *ever*! LUV.
But even besides that, this girl is getting splashed around everywhere...just recently she was featured on Apartment Therapy for a clever little DIY soap dispenser and her work pops up just about everywhere else, too! She's a DIY baller. But I'm pretty sure she will impress your socks off all by herself (c:

Hi everyone I'm Kim from Keller-Creative! First of all, thank you so much to Aubrey for including me in this fabulous series. This is my very first guest post and I couldn't be happier for it to be here on All Things Bright & Beautiful.

What really makes my house a home (besides my loving husband and adorable dog) is what I like to call the three C's...

Some people have too many blacks and neutrals in their life, I don't have that problem. I'm attracted to bright colors and patterns and have them all over my house and wardrobe. My favorite way to add color to my home is with pillows (I even change my pillow covers depending on the season).  I buy most of mine from Crate & Barrel but also have some from Etsy and Pottery Barn.

I even added color to my laundry closet...

In general when it comes to colors, I like blues and other cool tones but I recently re-did my screened in porch with lots of reds and I'm loving that too.

Comfort is king in our house. If I don't want my dog napping on it or friends eating near it, then I don't want it in my house.

(our dog actually fell asleep like this on our old couch when he was a puppy)

Although the couches we have in our house probably aren't what I would pick now, they are comfortable and great for when we have lots of friends over. We are often host our friends who don't have family nearby for holidays, so big gatherings are a staple in our house. And since I love to cook and entertain, that's never a problem for me.

Our house isn't a museum, you can keep your shoes on (or take them off!) and dogs are always welcome.

My husband Eric and I are lucky to have had the opportunity to travel to some pretty cool places together. Whenever we travel, we buy a postcard (we keep them in a large photo album in our family room) and a piece of art of some kind. These pieces remind us of the places we have been and bring back some great memories.

We bought this painting in Jackson Square in New Orleans. It's hanging about the door in our kitchen. When I look at it I think about how we went to a fabulous jazz brunch after we bought this and the painting sat in a chair during the brunch.

This clay jar came from the Costa Rica. From the moment I laid my eyes on it I knew I had to have it.

This painting is probably one of my favorite things in our home. My husband bought it for me on our first anniversary while we were in Spain. We were supposed to be going to a cava factory that day but ended up taking the wrong train and spending the afternoon in Sitges instead. I had the best meal of my life (clams in a garlic/marinara) and we found a charming art gallery where I was forced to use my limited French skills (the owner spoke Spanish and French, but little English) to buy this painting. On the bookshelf below is a picture of us standing in front of the church that is in the painting.

If I had a fourth C, it would probably be change. I'm constantly moving things around and changing things up in our house. It drives my husband a little crazy but I don't know what he would do if our house looked the same week after week (except be really, really happy).

Thanks again Aubrey for having me be part of this fantastic series. I really enjoyed writing this post and thinking about what makes my house a home.

Kim, you are so awesome and I can't believe this is your first guest post! If you thought this was impressive, you have to go check out her brand new porch that her hubby built for her. Aw, so cute! (c:

And to finish up our series:
